Yay Pants!

My fabric for my pants sloper came in today.i also received two samples: fern green bull denim and navy trigger fabric. both are too lightweight for what i want. Which sucks!
In other sucky news, i kind of forgot that i had to get books for school. I have five classes and need seven books. which sucks! $173 for school books, this is turning out to be the most expensive semesters yet. 15 units at $46 per unit, not to mention lab fees!

Sewing!!!!

I plan on doing a ton of sewing this semester. I have my up-cycled line with the fashion club (aka myself and the pres. Misty). We are using donated men's clothing from the Theater's costume shop and either free or really cheap fabric. Right now, we have 13 outfits for modeling and an outfit for each of us. All the patterns  for the tops are pretty much finished. A few are cut out. Some have to be redone because we have changed our minds.

pictures!!!!!Collapse )
For school, I have a vintage sewing class and a millinery class which is going to be exciting. And very, very busy. Then I have two basic fashion classes, a visual merchandising and a fashion tech. And finally, an Adobe Illustrator class!! Also,I have a sewing lab class, which will help me keep up with my sewing.
For personal sewing, I really want to focus on being able to fit myself. I purchased two sloper patterns, a bodice/skirt and pants during the McCall's/Butterick/Vogue sale. Slopers are basic, basic patterns with the more usual darts. The front bodice has a waist dart and a bust dart usually. The sleeve has two elbow darts. The back bodice has a shoulder seam dart and a waist dart. The skirt has two darts on each front and back piece (4 altogether)! The pants are going to be difficult because I have never made fitted pants. Then I am going to make myself a regular pair of pants! Yay! Something useful.
A lot of home sewists only make only fun things to wear, which means they have many different pieces in their closets and nothing to wear. Basically nothing goes together or is everyday wear. I am one of those. I mostly make tons of costumes and things that I'll only wear once or twice. That's called frosting, light, fun, interesting to make frosting. I need to make cake, regular everyday clothes that is still cute but functional. Jeans and basic shirts and maybe some shorts and capris!
Also, I want to grade some vintage 1930's and 40's patterns. Due to their age, larger vintage pattern sizes are nonexistent, they didn't really make them and when they are found, they are very popular and expensive!

Super Fun!

Ok if I was able to follow along with Realm of Venus's (renaissanceitaly.net/TempFiles/ItalRenCostumingChallenge.htm) Italian Renaissance Costuming Challange this is what I'd attempt. or maybe this one:

Dear World,
its time to start thinking about what i want and what makes me happy. This means a lot of changes, like finding a new job and finishing my degree. Which means i have to stop being lazy and start putting myself out there. All of these changes will be for the better. I need them.

Silkworms and tomato plants

today i planted a bunch of tomatoes and bought things that they would need, like pots and peat pellets and cages. hopefully for this amount of money i will have a ton of yummy tomatoes.

Also, i have silkworms that have hatched. i have cooked their food, its now chilling in the fridge. At first, I was kind of worried because I didn't check on them yesterday. i am supposed to feed them within their first 24 hours of hatching, which will be tonight, I think. Tomorrow, after work, i will move them to their new homes and feed them again. after that, they need to be feed three times a day. whew, i think i will have to purchase them more food real quick!
In other news, I have a new baby cousin! So excited, this is the first baby in TWO decades!!!! He is very cute! Spring break has started this week. Eek, i have so much work to catch up on; finish tutu bodice, basque, and have the pantie part ready for net (of course i have to dye it so its the right color),....... also have to work on a section of math homework everyday. I'm on chapter 4 section 1, and we need to be up to chapter 6 section 4. Yeah, right, what was i doing....... i have to read four in textiles, do the end of chapter questions and print out the chapter homework on the disk.
oh yeah did i mention that its spring break???

you know that luke and leia are brother and sister right? you know how at first you were kinda wanting them to get together and then you find out the are siblings and you're rather disappointed cause they kind of worked well with each other. well i've come across the literary version of this and i don't think i want to read the next book in the series.  i'm glad that this development got rid of the big love triangle in this book. after twilight i don't really want to read another of those

Yay!!!!

I got more comic books yesterday. I got Girl Comics #1, which I liked most of. It's like an anthology, which means some of the little stories I liked more then the others plus short histories of some of the first women in comcs or at the Marvel offices. I loved the cover!!

I also recieved Madame Xanadu #20. in it we see early squabbles between Nimue and her sister, Morgana. We also get a glimpse at the young Merlin
I also recieved Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love #5, which was a little confusing. For some reason I remember her with Aladdin trap in something gross that was suckering her under. Couldn't find a pic for it, sad, cause it is one of the best covers!

In other news, i have a midterm that I've barely studied for, which sucks. But i still have three more days. And a customer said that i have a fantastic atitude today at work. <3 >_< which is soo awesome, cause half the time I feel  pretty blah at work. i also am fairly sarcastic a lot!!???
